• My Quiet and Happy 9th Birthday

My birthday was yesterday, on January 5. Before my birthday, I reminded my dad that we have to buy chocolates so I can give them to my classmates. My mom and I went to a shop very near our house and bought Munch chocolates.

New Year was just a few days ago, so my mom was also buying some gifts for her office friends. My brother was looking at Pokémon cards in the shop. He told me if I wanted some, I should ask Mom. I asked her, and she said to wait for a while because she was buying other things. I asked my brother how much it cost, and he said 10 rupees. Then we bought the Pokémon cards! I was very happy and excited to see if I got a rare card. Even if I didn’t, it was still fun.

After buying everything, we came back home and did our normal things.

In school, my friends asked for three chocolates each, and I gave them because they are my friends. My friend Worthemso didn’t come to school. Maybe he was sick.

I celebrated my birthday at home with my family. I didn’t invite anyone. I got some books, pencils, and a pencil stand with a man playing guitar. It looks really cool, and I love it! It was a nice birthday.

  • A Sick Day at Home

On Saturday, I was sick, so I skipped school for one day. I usually feel bored when I stay at home, but this time I was not lonely because my mom stayed home with me.

I could not sleep properly because my nose was running. Mom and I watched a movie together. The movie was emotional, and my mom started crying. Then we decided to take a nap.

While I was dreaming, I suddenly heard a sound like flip flap flip. I woke up and saw a sparrow flying inside our room. It was making all the noise. After some time, it flew away.

I felt hungry, so I took some bread and ate it. I tried to tell something to my mom, but she just said “ehh” because she was sleepy. So I started doing my usual things.

When Mom woke up, she cleaned the bathroom and other things. I told her I was feeling cold because I was sick. She said that after finishing her cleaning, we would go upstairs and sit in the hot sun on the terrace.

I made something using pipes and other stuff like a bottle cap. After some time, we went downstairs and I accidentally fell asleep. Later, my brother Pravin came back from school, and we ate some very tasty food together.

It was a strange but nice day at home.

  • What We Do When Dad Is Out

These days my dad has been going out a lot with his friends, and my mom gets a little upset about it.

One Sunday, my dad went to a rock concert. Before he went, I helped my mom by doing all the house chores. I even boiled some eggs for us to eat when Dad came back. I wanted to go with him, but he said the concert was very long and I would get hungry. He said he would come back at 9 p.m. or maybe very late.

At home, my brother Pravin and I were studying. He fell asleep, but I was reading a poem. I told my mom we should wake him up, or he wouldn’t study at all. So I shook him hard, and he woke up. After one hour, we had dinner and then went to bed. That day was very funny and wild.

Another time, my dad went to a restaurant with his friends and came home very late again. I was sitting on my bed, reading my book and studying. When I checked the time, it was around 9 p.m. I memorized all the lessons my mom told me to learn. Since Christmas was coming, I also decorated my Christmas card. My mom and my brother were talking, and Dad came home very late that night, too.

  • Running to Morning Assembly

Yesterday morning I was late for our school assembly, so I ran as fast as I could to my class line. When I reached there, everyone was already praying the morning prayer. I quickly kept my bag – not even on my own bench – and rushed to stand in my place. I ended up standing right behind my best friend, Punshiba.

After the prayer ended, Punshiba turned around and told me happily that he had brought his hand gloves today. Then we all sang our school song. During the assembly, some students gave the thought of the day, the news, and a short speech.

Then my friend Worthemso came to me and whispered that he didn’t bring his lunch box. Instead, he brought money. I asked him, “How much?” and he said 100 rupees! That is quite a lot for our canteen, and I was so surprised.

After that, it was our headmistress’s turn. She gave a short speech about our behavior and gave us some reminders. Then someone led the school oath, and finally, the assembly was over.

It was a busy start to the day, but it turned out fun!

  • The Day I Got My Exam Results

Today was PTI day, and I woke up with so much excitement that I almost jumped out of bed. I kept running around the house because I couldn’t wait to see my results. I felt really good inside since I had done very well in my exam.

After waking up, I started doing my usual morning stuff and told Mom that I wanted to check what Dad was doing. It was freezing outside – so misty and cold that my brother Pravin refused to step out. I ran downstairs anyway and found Dad cleaning his car. I quickly sat inside the car, and it was so warm and cosy that I almost fell asleep. Then Dad said we should go back home, or Mom would get angry.

When I went inside the room, I saw my brother looking super sleepy, like he could fall asleep standing! At 8:45 am, we left for school with both Mom and Dad. While we were in the car, I suddenly felt like I really needed to pee, but we were stuck in the middle of the road. The moment we reached school, I ran straight to the toilet. My parents were wondering where I had disappeared.

After that, we all went up to the second floor and met my teacher. I felt a bit shy, so I took a deep breath and walked up to the new teacher. She’s our new class teacher. She asked for my roll number and name, and then she gave us my result. I felt so happy! I even met a friend who looked totally confused, and then I met an old friend and another one, too.

Today was a mix of excitement, cold air, little adventures, and happy surprises. It was a good day.

  • Mom’s Day Off and My Surprise Holiday

Today was such a fun day! It was Mom’s day off from her office, so I was already happy in the morning. It was supposed to be a normal school day for me, but Dad said that since it’s Annual Day for the big students (class 9 to 12), we juniors don’t have school. I don’t know how Dad knows these things, but he said it, so I believed him!

Before he went to office, I asked Dad to choose a movie for Mom, me, and my brother Pravin to watch in the afternoon. He picked one on Jio Hotstar and said it was a little old but we would enjoy it a lot.

When we finally sat down to watch it, suddenly the lights went off! My brother shouted, “Nooooooo!” After a few minutes, the lights came back and Mom continued watching the movie. But my brother fell asleep…and slept for almost four hours!

Later, the lights went off again. I didn’t even care this time. I just went downstairs to get my favorite toy, Zenga. I built a train and a house beside a river with the blocks. I even tried to build a baby, but it kept falling and I got so annoyed!

When the lights came back, I felt hungry, so I grabbed a snack and ate it. Then I read a storybook until I felt sleepy too. Mom was still watching her movie peacefully.

I fell asleep, and Mom also took a nap. About two hours later, I woke up, ate lunch, and studied my school books with Mom.

So yeah, my holiday was unexpected… but super fun!

  • Our Big Annual Day Adventure

Our Annual Day was super fun! We didn’t go to our normal school today. Instead, we went to UNACCO College, the big senior campus at Mamangpat. The place is huge! I came here a few days ago for drama practice, so I kind of knew the place already.

I reached very early. When I went inside the drama make-up room, only a few kids from our drama group were sitting and talking. But Punshiba and Worthemso were not there yet. I think I know why – Punshiba always goes to play badminton, so maybe they came late because of that.

I was getting bored sitting in the room. After some time, Punshiba finally came with his mom. He told his mom that I was Nitish. She didn’t know my face before, so now she knows what I look like!

A little later, I saw Worthemso. He was carrying his school bag. I asked him why, and he said he was going to change his clothes in the room. After that, Punshiba disappeared somewhere, but I didn’t bother much and kept talking to Worthemso. Then Punshiba came back with some juice. He gave it to me. I drank some and gave the rest to Worthemso. He said it tasted really good.

There was one problem – we were not allowed to go outside to throw the empty juice packets. But Punshiba tried it anyway, and somehow he did it and came running back inside, laughing.

Worthemso said he felt sleepy, but there was no place to sleep. Then one boy suddenly said he felt like throwing up. He ran to the bathroom and came back after some time. The hallway was so tight that we all had to squeeze around.

After all this, it was finally time for our drama. We performed on the stage, and it went great! After the show, we took photos with Punshiba and also with my brother Pravin.

When we reached home, my dad showed the video of our drama performance to my mom and to my brother.
It was a very fun day… but also very tiring!

  • Our Annual Day Practice Trip

Today we didn’t have many classes because we had to go to the senior school campus for our Annual Day practice. The campus is a little far from our school and it is in a place called Mamangpat.

Punshiba and I were looking for a school van that we wanted to sit in so we could enjoy the ride together. While we were walking around, I lost Worthemso for a bit, but then we found him again. Sadly, he couldn’t come in the same van with us because he didn’t reach in time. He got into another van, and our trip started.

The ride wasn’t very long, and the place was really beautiful. The van uncle was actually Punshiba’s old van driver! When we reached Mamangpat, we saw Worthemso, and he looked very confused. I ran to him and we picked some chairs to sit on.

Then one student bumped into me and my chair fell down. Punshiba slapped him lightly on the head and walked away. After that, we watched the fashion show practice and the dance practice. Then it was our turn for the drama practice. Our drama went well!

After everything was over, we got into the same van with Worthemso. I held him tightly so I wouldn’t lose him again! We went back to our school after a fun practice session.

  • My Unlucky But Funny Day

Today was a really unlucky day for me!

First, my trousers tore at the knee. I didn’t even know how it happened! Then during playtime, I was playing in the corridor with Worthemso and a Class 4 boy. We were running around and suddenly snap! The strap of my ID card broke. Luckily, the ID card didn’t get lost, so I quickly put it inside my backpack and went to play again.

I was also looking everywhere for Punshiba, but I couldn’t find him, so I just played with my other friends. We were having so much fun!

When playtime got over, I found out that Punshiba was in the classroom the whole time! I told him, “Come, let’s go for our Annual Day practice,” but he said no. So I went alone. After a few minutes, he suddenly came and joined the practice.

I asked him why he stayed back in the classroom, and he said he wanted to watch some kids dancing and also eat something secretly in the class. I just laughed. What a funny day!

  • Our Winter Sunbath Day

Today, our dad gave me and my brother Pravin a really nice idea. After breakfast, Dad told my brother to go up to the terrace and sit in the sun because he always stays inside the house. Since it’s winter, Dad said he should sunbathe and read a book. He told him to read the Mahabharat book that he bought for my brother.

When I finished my breakfast, Dad told me to do the same. So I took my favourite book, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and went up to the terrace too.

After some time, my brother said he was feeling too hot and that if he stayed any longer, he would get toasted like bread! I was still enjoying the sunshine. Then I suddenly saw a matchbox lying there. I quickly went and picked it up to show my brother. He checked it, and it actually had matchsticks inside, so he threw it away. After that, we both continued reading our books.

After a while, we went back inside the house.
