Today, our school van came very late. I usually go to school at 7:30 in the morning. After I finished eating, I checked my mom’s phone to see where our van was on the school app. But the van was not moving at all! I thought maybe the app was not working. Then my dad called our van driver. He said there was a big traffic jam because of a marathon race. The police stopped all the vehicles.

I was upset because I thought I would be very late and feel embarrassed to enter the class. Today is Saturday, and they could have done the marathon on Sunday instead! Our driver took many shortcuts, but when we reached school, the first period was almost over.

I thought maybe other vans were also late, but our van was the last to arrive! I ran to my classroom. Our Headmistress stopped me and asked, “Why are you so late?” I told her about the marathon and the police. She told me to go quickly to class.

When I entered, my friends looked surprised. They all asked me what happened, and I told them. My class teacher also asked, and I explained. The teacher of the first period had marked me absent, but our class teacher changed it to present. After that, we studied and did some drawing. I copied the notes I missed in the first period. It wasn’t even that long!
