Whenever we had a big exam at school, the girl who sat next to me always turned around and asked me, “What is the answer to this?” She did it in almost every exam, and sometimes I didn’t even get time to think before she asked again. When the teachers gave us the question papers, I tried to look at all the questions very carefully. Sometimes I even wrote small notes or answers on my rough sheet so I wouldn’t forget, and later I could copy them if I needed.

One day, we had an English test, and it was the most confusing test I ever saw. The questions were so strange. I had never seen anything like them in my textbooks or homework. Everyone around me looked worried and kept turning pages again and again. Even I felt a little scared.

But then I decided to write an imaginary answer because I didn’t know what else to do. After the exam, my friend Paikhomba told me that he also wrote an imaginary answer because he didn’t understand it either. That made me feel a little better. But my other friend, Punshiba, said he just left the question blank because he had no idea what to write.

All of this made me even more confused, and I kept wondering how the teacher would mark our answers. But later, when I got full marks, I felt really happy – even though the whole test still felt like a big mystery to me.
